The Braintree Fire Department says there were no injuries after a fire at a condominium complex.

Fire Lt. Freddie Viola says crews responded to 605 Matthew Lane yesterday afternoon after a 9-1-1 call at apartment 205.

“The fire initiated on the deck of that apartment and went up inside the walls and into the attic of that unit, but on the exterior walls of that unit, so it never made it inside,” said Viola.

He says the fire was difficult to access. Holes were cut in the roof and walls for ventilation.

Braintree companies responded, a Weymouth engine provided station coverage.

“There were no injuries to firefighters, no injuries to residents or pets,” said Viola. “Everyone was evacuated.”

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, but it is under investigation by the state police.
