Saturday, June 16:


Today is Rockland Day from 1 – 4 at Memorial Field. It’s a day to celebrate Rockland with free kids activities, arts and crafts, live music, a magician, food trucks and more. Public safety demonstrations and art displays are part of the day, as well as the launch of the public arts project called the Sole of Rockland to help transform the downtown into an exciting art destination, giving a nod to Rockland’s shoe factory history. https://www.facebook.com/events/168406707203172/

It’s open barnyard time at Weir River Farm in Hingham! Nutmeg the pony, Billy the goat and the other barnyard regulars are excited to greet you after a long winter. You can brush a goat, make a barnyard craft, pet a chicken and more! You can talk to a friendly farmer and learn more about life on the farm. You can also take a walk on one of the many trails and experience all that Weir River Farm has to offer. You can visit the barnyard every Saturday – rain or shine – from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Park at 140 Turkey Hill Lane. The Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary in Plymouth is hosting an avian avengers program for kids ages 6 – 14 from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. today. Come find out if you have what it takes to compete with the woodpeckers, eagles, and owls of the world! From super-sonic speed to skulls of steel (well, sort of) come and learn about the super powers of the feathered friends you can find right in your backyard and see if you’d have what it takes to become an “Avian Avenger”! Head to Luddam’s Ford Park for a free family ponding program from 9 – 11:00 a.m. today. Great for kids ages 4 and older, using dip nets, microscopes and other tools you will explore all things aquatic. Join the South Shore Sanctuaries team in search of tadpoles, water boatmen and other pond critters. Registration is required by calling 781.837.9400 or click HERE to learn more. 


The city of Quincy hosts their annual Flag Day parade and celebration this evening. The parade steps off at 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Coddington and Hancock Streets, heading north on Hancock to Pageant Field. There is where the celebration continues after 8:00 p.m. capped off with fireworks at 9:00 p.m. Details HERE


Sunday, June 17:

It’s the 3rd annual Father’s Day Car Show at the North Community Church in Pembroke, today from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. All the proceeds from the show will go directly into the Student Ministries Scholarship Fund which assists teens financially with programs and trips throughout the year. The show will include cars and trucks from antique to modern.  In addition there will be food for sale provided by Away Cafe and Del’s Lemonade food trucks, a children’s area, raffle items, a 50/50 raffle and music.  For a small donation fee you can also vote for your favorite car or truck.  https://www.facebook.com/events/382212678852524/


It just so happens the 3rd Sunday of the month is Father’s Day — and it’s the day of the Cranland Airport’s Fly-in breakfast! The weather looks good too! The breakfast continues every 3rd Sunday through October. Come and see lot’s of interesting Aircraft up close (but please do not touch), land/take off and get a great breakfast for only $6/adult, $3/kids. Scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice. All are welcome, Fly, drive, walk or bike on over to Cranland Airport in Hanson from 8-11am, usually stop serving by 10:30 or when food runs out. Helps support the EAA chapter 279 (experimental aircraft association) — all are welcome!

Been to the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton? Children under 12 are admitted for free and everyone is admitted for free Thursdays from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Admission is free for Brockton residents! www.fullercraft.org 


The Children’s Museum in Boston costs $1 to enter Fridays from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.! Current exhibits include Explore-a-Saurus where you can assume the role of scientist and explore the evidence, the science and the features that make dinosaurs so compelling. You can touch and measure a fossil footprint and learn what clues it gives about a dinosaur’s size. You can manipulate a full-size model and learn how they moved and rearrange bone puzzles to learn about dinosaur anatomy.
