Friday, February 1:

Fun for the whole family tonight at Boston Bowl in Hanover, and you get to help out the cats of the South Shore! Standish Humane Society is hosting The Big Meowski bowling fundraiser from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in Hanover. The cost is $35 per person and includes 2 hours of bowling – ten or candle pin – bowling shoe rental, two slices of pizza, unlimited soft drinks and a donation to the Standish Humane Society. Saturday, February 2:

Saturday Science is back for its third year and this time, it’s alive! This year’s program features the vibrant and dynamic nature of the sciences, tailored to two elementary school age groups: K-2, which meets from 9:15 – 10:00 a.m. and 3 – 5 which meets from 10:15 0 11:00 a.m. Age limits are strictly enforced to ensure a positive experience for all kids. The theme this week is modern dinosaurs featuring scientist Sue Hendrickson! Saturday Science sessions expose kids to different scientific fields and the leading female scientists in those fields. The Hingham Public Library has a wonderful opportunity for your new(ish) reader to gain comfort and experience reading: it’s their read to a dog program! Saturday from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. you can book your 15 minute reading sessions through the children’s department by calling 781.741.1405 x1403 or sending an email to hijuv@ocln.org. Reading to a trained therapy dog helps develop literacy skills and builds confidence and self-esteem. This program is great for kids ages 5 and older.


Quincy Point Congregational Church is hosting a free family movie night tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the Social Hall! The movie tonight is Incredibles 2! All are welcome!


It might be a perfect night to star gaze at the Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary in Sharon tonight from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. This is a free event – no registration is required. Join astronomers from the Astronomical Society of Southern New England for a look at the stars and other night objects through their big telescope. The event is on-going, so drop in for all or just part of the evening. The program is cancelled if sky conditions are cloudy/milky. This program is suitable for families with children ages six and older.


Sunday, February 3:

The Randolph Community Band, who are celebrating their 10th anniversary, are hosting a Children’s Concert featuring all Disney music at 1:00 p.m. at Stetson Hall in Randolph Following the concert the kids can try their favorite instrument at an instrument petting zoo. And immediately following there will be a fundraiser to benefit the group at What’s the Scoop at 23 Memorial Parkway, just across the intersection from Stetson Hall. The Trustees are holding a kid’s cooking class today at Powisset Farm in Dover from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. In this fun, cooking class, kids will learn to make and decorate beautiful, tasty cupcakes! Batter up! In this hands-on cooking class you’ll explore three varieties of cupcakes with mix and match frostings. Kids will make cake batter from scratch, delicious frostings and then spend time decorating the cupcakes they create. At the end of the class, students will share their creations and eat the cupcakes they’ve prepared. Yes, you can take home any extras, if you have extras! Class is designed for kids ages 7 – 12, kids ages 5 and 6 must be accompanies by a parent or caregiver who will participate in the class with their child.
