what to do with the kids this weekend: 3/29 – 3/31/19

Friday, March 29:

Each Friday this month the Children’s Museum of Easton teams up with Fuller Craft museum for characters and crafts from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. An imaginative story time will be followed by a process-based arts and crafts activity. Keep your eye on their calendar for other fun programs. https://www.cmeaston.org/events/characters-crafts/

Saturday, March 30:

The Hingham Public Library has a wonderful opportunity for your new(ish) reader to gain comfort and experience reading: it’s their read to a dog program! Saturday from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. you can read to Salty the Chihuahua, and his partner Christina and you can book your 15 minute reading sessions through the children’s department by calling 781.741.1405 x1403 or sending an email to hijuv@ocln.org. Reading to a trained therapy dog helps develop literacy skills and builds confidence and self-esteem. This program is great for kids ages 5 and older.

And for the older kids, there is a handbell ringing workshop at the Hingham Public Library today from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. with the Back Bay Ringers. This program for kids in grades 6 and up brings in members of the Back Bay Ringer to teach you about handbell ringing as well as how to play a song that you’ll perform together at the end of the workshop. It’s a neat way for teens to experience a type of musical instrument they may not have encountered before. Registration is required for this event HERE or by calling 781.741.1405.

MamaSteph heads to the John Curtis Free Library in Hanover to entertain the littles today from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Beloved local musician Stephanie Chase performs well-known children’s songs and her own compositions.  She gets young children up and dancing, and also brings some special puppets, too. This event is rescheduled from March 16th.

Saturday, March 31:

It’s the Legends and Royals Olympics at the South Shore Children’s Museum in Hanover! From 11:00 a.m. until noon, kids will crawl under, climb over, roll over, jump, skip, run and dribble their way through an obstacle course and they get to do it three times to see how much they can improve. There will be a pizza party and award ceremony after the Olympics and you’ll get a chance to meet Moana, Maui and a super hero! Please bring your Easter basket! For the safety of the animals they will not be interacting with visitors on egg hunt days. And don’t forget to dress appropriately for this outdoor event! https://www.winslowfarm.com/ Cost is $10 for adults and kids over 2 years old. This is a fundraiser for the animals of Winslow Farm.
