Scituate Heritage Days takes places Saturday and Sunday right in the heart of Scituate on Front Street and Cole Parkway. There will be live music, free kids events, boat races, blessing of the fleet, sidewalk sales, goat yoga, a waterfront beer and wine garden, food row and all the historic sights are open all weekend as well. Free kids events include a visit from SLYDE, the official mascot of the New England Revolution soccer team. South Shore Evergreen 4H, baby animal petting zoo, children’s art tents and the magic of the Great Rolando! Kids will also have a chance to meet Woody and Jessie and Jasmine and Aladdin too! Middleborough’s annual downtown festival is Friday, August 2nd and Saturday, August 3 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Krazy Days 2019 features a weekend of free family fun for all ages along with food vendors, live entertainment, and more. Princess Storytime at the Paragon Carousel in Hull has returned once again this summer. The carousel opens at 10:00 a.m. and story time starts promptly at 10:30 a.m. rain or shine, this event is free and guests may purchase ride tickets to join the Princess storyteller once the story is over. Family Fun Days on Duxbury Beach, today from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – prehistoric life on the beach – a.k.a. horseshoe crabs! Celebrate the ancient beast as you build sand sculptures depicting both this unique creature and it’s fellow citizens of the beach. Bring your buckets and pails! Great for kids of all ages – no fee and no registration required! Meet in the lot on the ocean side of the Powder Point Bridge. Tell the harbormaster you are attending the Mass Audubon program. Did you know dragonflies and damselflies live most of their lives underwater? How do you tell the difference between the dragonfly and damselfly? Can dragonflies fly backwards? Come and learn about these fascinating and efficient predators at the Blue Hills Trailside Museum’s Dazzling Dragonflies and Damselflies program today from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The program starts in the museum with an investigation of native dragonfly and damselfly specimens, a story and a craft. Then you’ll head out on a short guided hike around Trailside’s pond to look for dragon and damselflies and investigate the dragonfly and damselfly larvae that live in the pond. Wear sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing. Cost for adult members is $3 and kid member’s is $6. It’s all about turtles today at Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary in Plymouth from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Put on your books, grab your favorite adult and join the Audubon team for an adventures! Meet in the parking lot at 60 Beaver Dam Road where you’ll take a short walk, explore and learn new things about different plants, animals and other parts of nature – including turtles! This program is geared toward kids ages 4 – 9 and the cost is $3 for member kids and $5 for non-member kids. Adults admitted for free. Register online or call 508.927.1200.


Sunday, August 4:

It’s Kids night at the Bandstand today from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Nisby Bandstand near the public library/town hall and high school in Abington! This event is free! Music by Josh and the Jamtones, Joe’s Craz-zy Critters will showcase his reptiles, Vinny the Bubbles Guy will be there too.
