Granite Links Golf Club, Quincy MA

Our Friends at The Talking Information Center (TIC) are honoring WATD owner and TIC founder, Ed Perry!Wine and dine with the Olde Troll of Rock n’ Roll himself! On behalf of their 30,000 listeners, 200 volunteers, supporters, and staff, TIC wants to thank owner of WATD and founder of TIC, Ed Perry, for his many years of dedicated service to the community.

TIC was born out of a passion and desire to bring the printed word to life for thousands of residents in Massachusetts that desperately needed access to information that otherwise was not available to them.

In 1977, Ed Perry of Duxbury, was granted an FCC license to operate WATD-FM. Ed had heard about reading services in other parts of the country. Knowing there were none available in New England, Ed promised to donate his SCA signal for use as a radio reading service. WATD went on the air in 1977. A year later, in 1978, TIC went on the air and has operated as the connection to the printed world TIC listeners can no longer see for the past 40 years.

We hope you will join us in honoring Ed and joining TIC in celebrating this milestone!
