Sunday, January 19, 2013: 
Bring the family and your snowshoes and join a winter adventure today at 1:00pm at the South Shore Natural Science Center’s woods and fields in Norwell. You’ll look for animal tracks, learn about evergreen plants, and then come inside for hot cocoa. Snowshoeing abilities of all levels welcome. A limited amount of snowshoes for kids and adults will be available for use. In the event of little or no snow, the program will be a winter hike. The event takes place today at 1:00pm at the South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell. Please register for this event at www.southshorenaturalsciencecenter.org  or call 781-659-2559. Looking for some winter fun for the family? The South Shore Natural Science Center has some great Drop-in events for the whole family in February!  On Sunday, February 2nd from 11:00am to 4:00pm, drop in to Celebrate Groundhog Day, and learn all about the groundhog and what “hibernation” is.  Free with admission.  On Saturday, February 22nd, from 10:30am to 3:30pm, join us for Winter Discovery Day.  We’ll conduct snow and ice experiments, try out snowshoes, and look for animal tracks in the snow.  Free with admission.

Join the fun at the Science Center’s Owl Festival Weekend, February 15 – 17, 2014.  The weekend kicks off on Saturday, February 15th at 7:00pm with the Owl Prowl, a night walk for ages 8 and up, led by Education Director John Galluzzo, in search of Eastern-screech and Great Horned Owls. Please bring flashlights and dress for the cold! ($5M/$8NM)

On Sunday, February 16th, drop in to the Center between the hours of 11:00am and 4:00pm, for the Owl Festival, and discover Who’s Whooo in the world of Owls.  Have a hootin’ good time as you learn about these nocturnal raptors.  Enjoy crafts, games, live animal presentations and more.  Dissect an owl pellet if you dare!  A fun afternoon for the entire family. ($4M/$7NM)

On Monday February 17th, join us for a presentation from our friends at Eyes on Owls.  Marcia Wilson will introduce us to her menagerie of owls. Get an up close view of these amazing denizens of the New England fields and forests. We promise it’ll be a hoot! Two shows: 11:00am and 1:00pm. SOULE HOMESTEAD OFFERS FEBRUARY “FARM FUN” VACATION PROGRAM

Parents of children between the ages of 5 to 10 years are encouraged to sign up as early as possible for the popular farm-based educational February Vacation Program to be held at the education center located at 46 Soule Street in Middleboro, MA 02346.  This year’s theme is “Farm Fun” and the program is expected to fill up quickly.  Each day offers a different theme: OUR FEATHERED FRIENDS (Tuesday 2/18), ANIMALS IN WINTER (Wednesday 2/19), LETTERBOXING (Thursday 2/20), and MYSTERIOUS FOSSILS (Friday 2/21).  The price per day is $13 for members, $15 for non-members; the price per 4-day week is $50 for members, $58 for non-members.  Pre-registration and payment is required by February 14th by contacting Laurie Amberman, 508-947-6744 or email educator@soulehomestead.org
