Staff members of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, NRC, came to Plymouth Wednesday night as part of a nationwide tour. They sought advice on best practices for citizen input regarding nuclear power plant decommissioning. The Massachusetts legislature had convened a Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel, N-Cap, prior to the shutdown of Pilgrim nuclear power plant in Plymouth. The NRC took none of the panel’s advice and gave the job of decommissioning to Holtec International on August 22nd. Enthusiasm to help the NRC listen was not high at the hearing.
