Five members of an Abington family were found dead inside their home Monday morning. They have been identified by the District Attorney as Deidre Zaccardi, 40; Alexis, 11; Nathaniel and Kathryn, 9; and Joseph Zaccardi, 43.
Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz says officers went to the home at 135 Centre Ave. around 7:30 Monday morning after a 911 call reported a medical emergency.
While emphasizing it is an ongoing investigation Cruz did list a potential cause of death.
Cruz says he doesn’t believe the public is in danger.
“We’re going to try to put it all together. As we sit here right now, I think it’s a fair statement to say that there is no threat to the public,” said Cruz. “It appears to be just an incredibly terrible, terrible situation.”
Relatives are asking for privacy as they grieve an “unfathomable” loss. Survivors issued a statement Monday through the Plymouth County district attorney’s office saying they need some space “as we attempt to make sense of the enormity of this event.”
