A 65-year-old man from Duxbury was arrested for allegedly spitting on produce at a Kingston Stop & Shop.
Kingston Police say they responded to the store at 160 Summer Street just before noon Saturday.
The investigation is ongoing, but police say the unidentified man was coughing and spitting. He became confrontational with staff and witnesses, that incident turned physical.
Police do not believe the man had COVID-19. He was transported to the BID-Plymouth hospital for evaluation.
The Kingston Board of Health was contacted and responded to the store. In addition, the Duxbury Board of Health was notified.
The Kingston Police say they’re pursuing a criminal complaint for charges that could include Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon – Shod Foot, Assault and Battery, and Destruction of Property (produce). A no-trespass order was issued from the store as well.
