Dozens of police and fire departments will form a procession this afternoon to salute people at the Beth Israel Hospital in Plymouth.
Plympton Fire Chief Steve Silva says after seeing the parade at South Shore Hospital, they wanted to do something to support front-line workers.
“My daughter also works at the BI as an emergency room nurse. I know what she’s going through. It’s a lot of work over there,” said Silva. “It’s tough work, it’s hard work. Sometimes it’s lonely work.”
When Silva approached the BI Plymouth staff with the idea, they were all for it. Local departments were quick to join in.
“Our goal is to drive around the hospital grounds and just show our support of everything that goes on the inside behind those doors,” said Silva. “We want to let everyone know that we’re in this together.”
A few minutes before the 3 p.m. shift change, both police and fire departments will drive around the campus to show support.
