**UPDATE: Cooper has been adopted! Yay, Cooper!
Cooper is currently in a foster home and is hoping to find an adoptive home very soon.
Cooper is an adorable mixed breed dog who is about a year old. This handsome guy was originally brought up from the south and adopted through another shelter. The home he was in had another dog who was not kind to Cooper so he found himself back in a shelter, this time with our friends at the Scituate Animal Shelter.
Cooper is a very shy dog who is working hard on being more confident. When he first meets a new person he will back away and try to hide. He is a dog who really loves his treats, so give him time and a bunch of cookies and you will earn Cooper’s trust. Once he bonds with a person he is a bundle of energy and endless kisses! Cooper will need to be in a quiet adult only home so that he has time to relax and work on his social skills. Cooper has shown a tendency to guard his home. He would prefer a quiet home without frequent visitors. Any new people who come to the house would have to meet Cooper outside so that he gets to know them before coming inside.
Cooper enjoys being outside and is great in the car. Since he is a fearful dog, Cooper is at risk for escaping. He will always need to be watched when outdoors, even in a fenced area. Cooper seems to enjoy other dogs and his new home should have a younger, dog friendly dog that enjoys playing. That way he can get all the attention and love and really work on being the best dog he can!
We have had a tremendous response to Coopers post. Before emailing, please make sure you meet the following criteria:
– A quiet home without frequent visitors.
– Adult only home
– A young, dog friendly dog to play with Cooper and keep him company
– A willingness to work on reactivity in the home.
– A willingness to continue training Cooper and work on his fear of new people
