A Pembroke man was arrested after a motorcycle crash and brief chase in Bridgewater.
Police Chief Christopher Delmonte says 24-year-old Lucas Guimaraes is facing drug and reckless driving charges in connection to the incident.
On Friday night, officers spotted two motorcycles on Pleasant Street operating at about 80 miles per hour.
Officer Jack Hennessey attempted to pull over the riders, but they fled the stop.
Police say Guimaraes attempted a wheelie, but crashed into a nearby mailbox. He fled on foot and officers say he ditched a backpack in the woods.
They caught up to him, and he was transported to the Good Samaritan Hospital.
Upon investigation, plastic bags identified as cocaine were found in the backpack.
Guimaraes is charged with Reckless Operation, Speeding, Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Property Damage, and Possession with intent to Distribute a Class B Drug. He was an issued a summons to Brockton District Court.
