A Gloucester man is facing charges following an incident at Sandy Beach Sunday afternoon.
Cohasset Police say that shortly before 1 p.m. they received 9-1-1 calls reporting a male harassing families and children.
An officer responded to the scene and was told the man was in the parking lot “yelling, swearing, and acting strangely” about the year 1776 and his Rights being violated.
The officer located the male, identified as 51-year-old Steven Veator, and when he went to talk to him Veator went into a “wild tirade.”
The officer tried to deescalate the situation when Veator got into a car being driven by a woman and told her to drive away.
Police say he eventually exited the vehicle and assumed a fighting stance with the officer.
The officer drew his TASER and ordered Veator to the ground. Backup officers arrived and, after a struggle, took Veator into custody on charges of disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.
He is scheduled to be arraigned sometime in June by the Quincy District Court.
The female driver, 52-year-old Lisa Hennessey of Gloucester, was later ID’d as an acquaintance of Veator and will be summonsed to Quincy District Court for attaching plates, operating an unregistered m/v, operating an uninsured m/v, and having no inspection sticker.
In addition her vehicle, a 2004 Buick, was towed from the scene.
