Baker says state making gains on virus; 2nd Walmart closes

BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Charlie Baker said Tuesday that Massachusetts is seeing coronavirus numbers heading in the right direction even as the state’s number of confirmed COVID-19 cases topped 70,000. In other developments, a second Massachusetts Walmart store in Quincy temporarily closed after an employee died of COVID-19 and several others tested positive for the virus that causes the disease. More than 50 residents of a Medford nursing home died of COVID-19 recently. Genesis Healthcare operates the Courtyard Nursing Care Center and told The Boston Globe 54 residents with COVID-19 died since April 5.
