Marshfield Town Moderator Don Gibson says extra precautions will be taken for the Special and Annual Town Meeting, set for June 22.
There are 20 articles on the Annual and 12 on the Special Town Meeting warrant.
The auditorium, adjacent bathrooms, entrance way, and check-in area will be disinfected.
“There is going to be social distancing in terms of the seating to try to create at least six feet in between people sitting in the audience,” said Gibson. “We’re going to have to work hard on the stage as well. We’re also going to have hand sanitizers available.”
It’s his intention to take the articles as printed in the warrant, and not read them out loud to save time. Some formalities such as the presentation of the colors may not take place.
Gibson is asking that residents arrive to the meeting with masks and gloves.
“I’m going to try and walk a delicate line, respecting the rights of everyone assembled to question these articles and to engage in debate. But the emphasis is going to be in getting all this matter done in one night,” said Gibson. “If we don’t, we have to come back…we have to disinfect the auditorium again, the bathrooms, everything has to be done over.”
The Marshfield Special and Annual Town Meeting is set to be held on Monday, June 22nd at 7 p.m. at the High School.
