The Pembroke Emergency Management Team is working on a plan to help businesses re-open with state guidelines in place.
Health Agent Lisa Cullity says this includes the potential of outdoor capacity to help with social distancing.
“PEMA took the step of working out some sort of temporary outdoor seating where we can get those capacities greatly extended,” said Cullity. “For businesses where they have a 25 percent inside, but offer them and outside, which would get them closer to 75 percent. The restaurant owners I’ve spoken to, that’s the number they need to make it through.”
She says it’s not just about financial impacts to the community. It’s about integral businesses that are woven into the fabric of the community.
“That’s why we need to be as safe as possible and dedicated as possible to help them succeed,” said Cullity.
An expedited program is nearing completion, and will be presented to the Pembroke Selectmen before Phase 2 and 3 openings.
