There were no injuries after the Pembroke Fire Department quickly knocked down a fire at 142 Taylor Street Friday night.
Fire Captain Jim Shea says a neighbor called just before 10 p.m., reporting fire showing from the roof of the home.
The occupants were able to get out safely. Shea says the fire was knocked down in 10 minutes. The fire was contained to a room on the second floor. Due to the older construction of the home, crews remained on scene for about an hour.
In Pembroke, a ban on non-essential water use was issued due to severely low water levels and low pressure levels. The MassDEP is working with the town to expedite the finalization and inspection of the Water Treatment Plant upgrades to get them back in service in a month or on June 19.
Tankers from Plymouth and Carver, and a Carver engine were initially requested to the scene.
“We called them right off the initial call, but we didn’t need them,” said Shea. “We were able to take care of it with the water supply that was within the engines.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it does not appear to be suspicious at this time.
