The Scituate Board of Selectmen met and discussed an aggressive re-opening plan for the town as well as an update on the Covid-19 outbreak.
Governor Baker announced the state will reopen on Monday, May 18th as part of his four phase approach but has not detailed which businesses would get the green light yet.
Sue DiPesa of Scituate’s economic development commission proposed a plan to the board and says the use of social media and the town’s website seascituate.com will be the start of the initiative.
Scituate Town Administrator Jim Boudreau updated the town on the Covid-19 numbers and says there were 94 cases in town and 52 of those cases were at the nursing and rehabilitation facility Life Care Center. Two people have died and only 10 people who tested positive in town are still under quarantine.
Scituate’s Veteran’s Agent Don Knapp also announced the Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony is cancelled this year and instead of the parade, flags will be placed on every veteran’s grave, bridges, memorials and at the town common.
