Popular food show host resigns after mocking police protests.
BOSTON (AP) — The CEO of a long running New England television show spotlighting local restaurants and food has resigned after mocking the nationwide protests against police brutality on social media. The Phantom Gourmet said in a statement posted on Facebook Tuesday that Dave Andelman will relinquish ownership of the company he founded in 1993. He’ll also no longer appear on episodes of the television show, which he co-hosted with his brother, Dan Andelman, who is taking over as CEO. Boston-based stations WBZ-TV and WSBK-TV placed Phantom Gourmet on hiatus over the weekend after Andelman’s social media comments became widely public. Andelman has since apologized for the remarks. The Marshfield Fair has also cut ties with the company that was planning to open a drive-in movie venue on the fairgrounds. The Marshfield Fair is now contracting with another company.
