Because Plymouth Town Meeting will not convene before the start of the fiscal year July first, town government will operate on the budget already approved by town meeting last year month by month. The school committee has authorized $1.9 million in cuts of personnel and supplies. The select board has authorized an additional $1 million in cuts. Town Manager Melissa Arrighi, constrained by collective bargaining agreements, will not identify individual jobs in danger of being cut.
Arrighi’s staff estimates up to $5 million in revenue shortfalls in the coming year.
