Two contested races were decided in the Scituate Annual Town Election.

In a close race for Selectmen, Andrew Goodrich won a seat with 867 votes. Robert Dwyer, II had 758 votes.

Goodrich says he decided to run after the brown water issue in town. With the financial uncertainty due to COVID-19, he wants to make sure the town is in a good position.

“It’s a great responsibility. I definitely want to say thank you to Robert Dwyer for running a great campaign,” said Goodrich. “He’s a fine gentleman and it was wonderful to talk about those issues with him. We owe him a debt of gratitude, but also the staff, the Town Clerk and the Town Clerk’s office did a phenomenal job during this.”

For School Committee, Janice Lindblom won re-election with 863 votes. Elizabeth O’Reilly had 691 votes.

Benjamin Seth Bornstein was re-elected to the Planning Board with 168 write-in votes.

In the uncontested races, James Toomey was re-elected as Moderator, Anthony Vegnani was re-elected as Selectman, Steven Guard was re-elected as Assessor, Peter Gates was re-elected to the School Committee, Christopher Mirarchi and Patricia Murphy were re-elected as Library Trustees, Tamara Durante was re-elected to the Housing Authority, and Rebecca Lewis was elected to the Planning Board.
