A Dorchester woman is accused of attacking a Hingham Police Officer.
Hingham Police say that shortly after 8:30 p.m. Monday they were called to the parking lot of the Hingham Yacht Club over a report of a possibly intoxicated driver who was honking her horn and playing loud music.
Police say when an officer approached the car to speak with the driver, 28-year-old Sharrie Ann Payne, and she closed her window, began screaming and drove to the other side of the lot and stopped.
When the officer approached again Payne continued screaming, throwing her arms around in the car and calling the Officer “racist” saying she was being harassed because she was black.
Other officers, including a sergeant, arrived on scene and she continued to scream at the officers and yelled racial slurs.
Police say that at one point Payne rolled down her window and grabbed the Sergeant by the arm and pulled him in toward her open window while still screaming.
The officer broke free and attempted to arrested her as she struggled with other officers before she was removed from the vehicle and placed in a police cruiser.
There was a knife found in the driver’s door pocket but no alcohol was found in her car.
Police say Payne continued to yell and spit in the direction of Officers and tried to hit the booking Lieutenant.
She is scheduled to be arraigned July 24 on charges of Assault and Battery on a Police Officer; Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct.
