This election season Massachusetts residents may be seeing a question asking for approval of ranked choice voting on the November ballot.
Policy Director for Voter Choice for Masschusetts, Greg Dennis, says his group has been hard at work since 2019 getting signatures to get the question in front of voters.
Ranked Choice Voting allows a person to either vote for just one candidate, or to can rank the first, second, and third choice of candidates.
If the number one candidate doesn’t win, the vote will instantly be put towards the second choice.
Dennis says this can positively impact how candidates campaign.
On July 1st, the signatures went to the Secretary of State’s Office for validation and if so, the question will appear on the November ballot.
