In Pembroke, voters approved a $64 million dollar operating budget, capital projects, and community preservation projects.
Town Moderator Steve Dodge says a lot of preparation went into the meeting at the High School. He said there were three times as many volunteers, and the Pembroke Emergency Management Agency worked on the plans.
“I can’t tell you the amount of time that’s been put into this meeting. It may look like it was simply done. Collectively, more time and planning was put for this Town Meeting than certainly any other the Chair has chaired in the last 11 years,” said Dodge. “Thank you for that, that’s turned out well. Thank you for coming out, we needed to get this done.”
The town budget includes $34 million dollars on the school side.
Capital projects include $1.8 million dollars for Route 36 water tie-ins and $500,000 for water filtration plant upgrades.
Voters approved $160,500 in projects through the community preservation fund. Those projects include ADA improvements to the Town Landing Beach and new surfacing and equipment at the Mattakeesett Street playground.
The Pembroke Town Meeting concluded in just over an hour.
“Our quorum is normally 150, the Legislature gave Boards of Selectmen the authority to reduce the quorum to no less than 10 percent, which would have been 15,” said Dodge. “They actually reduced it to 25 percent, which was 38. We did get a quorum, we got 91 voters. Thank you to each and every one of you for attending this tonight.”
