Brockton students will not be returning to their classrooms in the fall.
During their meeting Tuesday night the Brockton School Committee voted to begin the 2020-2021 school year in a fully remote format.
As a result schools will continue remote learning through the first term, with the option to revisit every two weeks and make a switch to a hybrid or full in-person model when the Brockton Board of Health deems it safe to do so.
School officials say they will establish a “robust training program aimed at preparing students and parents/guardians to effectively use the district’s technology and software.”
If the schools do move to a hybrid or a full in-person learning model officials say a full virtual learning program will still be made available to families who would like to keep their children home.
