In Duxbury, two Special Town Meetings and the Annual Town Meeting was held at the performing arts center.
Voters approved the $2.5 million dollar purchase of the 17-acre Harrington property. Though the Finance Committee voted 7-0 against the article, the majority of residents spoke in favor of the purchase.
The property includes the Simmons house and farm, which dates back to 1696.
The purchase includes $625,000 in borrowing. The majority of funds will come from Community Preservation.
At Annual Town Meeting, the town’s budget includes $984,000 in reductions for a total of $83.3 million.
The budget uses $300,000 from the stabilization fund for the town and $450,000 for the schools. The School Budget is $37.49 million.
