Scituate: Driver Facing Charges for Crash that Killed Bicyclist on Rt. 3A

The 94-year-old driver that struck and killed a Marshfield man riding a bike on 3A in Scituate is facing charges in the crash.

Louis Bournazos, of Marshfield is facing one count each of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.

Around 6:30 pm on July 24th, police responded to Rt. 3A to several 9-1-1 calls reporting an unresponsive man in the roadway, in the area of 109 Chief Justice Cushing Highway.

The man, 67-year-old Howard Colby of Marshfield was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors says that Colby was riding a bike on 3A, outside the fogline when he was struck from behind by a 2001 Mercury Marquis driven by Bournazos.

Bournazos stopped the vehicle at the scene upon impact.

Bournazos will be arraigned on the charges at a later date.
