The Marshfield Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved the site plan for the new police station project. Work is expected to start in November.
The new police station will be two stories and 26,000 square feet. It will be built in place of the current DPW facility on Parsonage Street.
Sean Schmigle, an Associate with Kaestle Boos, the architects for the project, told the board the project will start with demolition of the DPW barn in November.
“A lot of site work, site investigation, site demolition and preparatory work – temporary facilities will be into the month of December,” said Schmigle. “Next spring will be steel, masonry. Getting into the summer will be walls, finishes.”
He says a substantial completion date is estimated to be in Spring of 2022.
“Moving in from the old police station to the new police station in the spring/summer of 2022,” said Schmigle. “Demolition of the existing police station would take place in the fall of 2022.”
Last year, Town Meeting and Special Election voters approved a nearly $50 million debt exclusion to include the new station, a new DPW facility, and seawall improvements.
