In Plymouth, the County Commissioners anticipate a surge in application for CARES Act funds because of COVID-19 safety precautions that schools throughout the County must put in place to bring students back to school safely.
Bobbi Clark has more:
All over the County schools are preparing for classes to begin, and County Treasurer Tom O’Brien says it’s financially challenging:
“Whether they’ve chosen to do a remote model or hybrid model it all comes with a challenge to them and a cost, so we’re seeing, and we’re anticipating a surge in applications for these resources.”
And those resources are 90 million dollars in Federal Cares Act funds that County is distributing to the 27 communities that make up Plymouth County. O’Brien says a lot of money has already been distributed:
“We received applications for more than twelve and a half million dollars to date. We have delivered more than four and a half million dollars of that and the applications are in review. There’ll be more checks sent out over the coming weeks.
And O’Brien says if folks want detailed information about the County’s Cares Act Program…
“…they need to go to plymouthcountycares.com. That’s a website, a dedicated website for the administration of these funds, which adds a level of transparency so people can see where the funds are, what communities are receiving the funds.”
