As COVID-19 cases are growing statewide the town of Duxbury has announced there are currently over 50 students in the school system that are in quarantine.
Six students have tested positive for COVID-19 and over 50 other students are now in quarantine because of close contact.
Duxbury Town Manager Rene Read says most of the cases are due to sports related activities.
Duxbury’s youth baseball program ended early this year due to possible close contact with the virus and now fall and winter sports are taking a hit.
Read says the youth hockey team has seen a rise in close contact cases and the best way to avoid contact with the virus is to not play at all.
Read says the six Duxbury students that tested positive for COVID-19 are “on the mend” and getting better.
