In Halifax, the proponents of an outdoor marijuana cultivation facility are seeking an expanded use at 111 River Street.
Bud’s Goods hosted the virtual forum, President and CEO Alex Mazin says they would like to expand the use to include manufacturing and limited indoor growing at the 47-acre site.
“What we’re looking to do is use a portion of our building to use for product manufacturing. When I say product manufacturing, what I mean is converting the cannabis flower into cannabis oil to sell into the wholesale market,” said Mazin. “We find that opportunity to be enormous and immense here in Massachusetts. It’s the safest way for us to do everything with a farm of this size.”
Mazin said they have plans to open recreational adult-use dispensaries in Abington, Watertown, and Worcester. That’s the state limit, and they’d be unable to open additional dispensaries. He says they’ll have 24/7 security on site.
“We would use sensor fencing across the whole perimeter, gates to enter, there would be cameras inside the facility covering every angle, except for the restrooms. Cameras on the outside with night vision, and failure notification systems,” said Mazin. “Security is at the forefront when we take design into account.”
Bud’s Goods would need to sign an updated host community agreement with Halifax, and would need additional approval from the Cannabis Control Commission. It’s expected the Selectmen would discuss the revised agreement during public meetings next month.
The presentation will be posted on Area 58 Community Access Media.
Town Administrator Charlie Seelig said that residents can reach out with comments or questions at the Selectmen’s Office at 781-294-1316.
