With a large MBTA cut due to the ongoing pandemic the town is Hingham is fighting to save the Greenbush line and ferry services.

Ridership on the T has taken such a huge hit that the state agency is cutting the budget and transportation lines.
The MBTA is considering possibly cutting ferry service entirely from Hingham and the town is afraid if those lines close completely they aren’t coming back.
The MBTA is running on CARE acts funds but when that runs out Senator Patrick O’Connor says he spoke to The Mass DOT’s CEO Stephanie Pollack and she confirms there will be cuts.
Hingham and Hull are both fighting to keep the MBTA from potentially shutting down the Greenbush line and ferry service.
The towns have petitions on the town websites as well as an online petition called savetheferry.org.
The MBTA’s Fiscal and Management Control Board plan to vote on the service cuts in a public meeting on Monday December 7th and that online meeting starts at 12 noon.
