State Police and officers from surrounding towns helped Kingston Police locate a suspect after he fled into a wooded area.
Kingston Detective Sergeant Michael Skowyra says 27-year-old Michael Carlson of Kingston was taken into custody.
Police were called to a Pembroke Street home early Sunday morning for a 911 hang-up call.
“They learned as a result of the investigation at the residence, that there was some sort of physical assault/disturbance that had occurred,” said Skowyra. “Upon arrival, the suspect was already gone. As a result of him leaving the residence, it was an alleged probation violation.”
He says the warrant was issued based on terms of release in a different matter.
Police returned to the home later in the morning to locate Carlson, who fled to a wooded area.
Based on the violent nature of Carlson’s offenses, mutual aid from State Police, Pembroke, Duxbury, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.
MBTA train schedules were delayed due to the large police presence.
A perimeter was set up after Carlson was spotted running along the railroad tracks by Strawberry Lane. He was located in a wooded area and was arrested on the warrant.
“He was taken into custody, relatively uneventfully once he was located. He was in thick brush, stuff like that,” said Skowyra. “There was no required use of force, no officer injuries. The defendant does have some injuries, but we believe that’s from his flight through the woods.”
Carlson was transported to the hospital for evaluation. He’ll be arraigned at Plymouth District Court on Tuesday.
