Crews were called to the scene of a plane crash at Plymouth Municipal Airport.
Fire Chief Ed Bradley says that at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday a Cessna being used by the Plymouth County Fire Chiefs’ Association was attempting to land at the airport when it encountered a large gust of wind which caused the plane to flip over and land on its roof.
Bradley says the pilot and the observer were able to get out of the plane on their own and were in the process of securing the plane when crews arrived on scene.
No injuries were reported but both occupants were taken to the hospital out of an abundance of caution.
Bradley says the plane is used by fire departments during extreme drought conditions to monitor the area for potential fires.
The plane was severely damaged.
The incident is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration.
