Meet Winter. Can you help us find Winter a forever home?
Our friends at Scituate Animal Shelter want to ensure that you please read the description of Winter before inquiring about her adoption because she is looking for a very specific home!
Winter is a young girl who is very shy but very sweet! She was originally found as a stray in Middleboro.
Winter’s new home MUST have a young, playful and confident dog to be her friend. Winter thrives around other dogs and loves to play. She becomes a much more confident girl when she is with a canine companion.
Winter does not like to be contained. She will need a lot of work and training to be comfortable in a home. Winter gets very anxious when locked in a space, even a large one, like a room. It will require time and patience to help this sweet girl adjust.
Winter will do best in an adult only home. Although she is very sweet, she is very easily scared. She will need a quiet home without too many frequent visitors. Ideally, the home will also be off a main road. Even the noise of cars makes Winter very nervous.
Winter is going to need to work on housebreaking since she has not been trained in the past. This will mean frequent bath room breaks throughout the day and crate training for when you aren’t home and at night.
Winter will always need to be on a leash when not in a secure area and even in a fenced yard should always be monitored. If she does ever escape, Winter will not come back on her own as she will be too scared. Winter will need to be watched around doors and windows as she is at risk for escaping from there, too.
Although Winter will require a lot of work, she rewards the people she loves with lots of cuddles! Winter knows how to make herself cozy on the couch and can’t get close enough to the ones that have earned her trust.
Adoptions are by appointment only. For more information on Winter please email adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org.
