An Abington man is facing drunk-driving charges after police say he drove the wrong way on Route 3 and crashed into a construction detail.

The State Police say around 5 a.m. Sunday morning, a cruiser and a contractor’s truck were hit by an impaired driver on Route 3 Southbound in Braintree.

Police say following an investigation it was determined that 24-year-old Christopher Fay of Abington was driving under the influence of alcohol in the wrong-way crash.

A construction worker from Stoughton suffered minor injuries and was transported to South Shore Hospital. Police said a male trooper was not injured when his cruiser was struck.

Fay, who was driving a 2007 Jeep Cherokee, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to South Shore Hospital.

He’s charged with OUI Liquor, Negligent Operation, Having an Open Container in a Vehicle, and a Wrong-Way violation.
