Police say a Plymouth man, who was a suspect in a fentanyl trafficking case, rammed a police cruiser while fleeing from investigators.
Antonio Berardi, 43, was located and arrested Friday morning in Kingston without further incident.
Kingston Police say the charges against him were the result of a lengthy investigation between Kingston and Plymouth Police into fentanyl trafficking.
On Thursday, search warrants were executed at a storage unit in Kingston and Berardi’s Plymouth home. Police say he fled the scene, struck a cruiser, and almost hit officers. A chase ensued, but was quickly called off for public safety.
The searches found a half-kilogram of fentanyl with a street value of over $100,000. Police seized two firearms and $90,000 in cash.
Berardi was located by Kingston detectives in the passenger seat of another vehicle and was arrested Friday morning.
He was arraigned in Plymouth District Court and will be held without bail pending his next appearance.
Not guilty pleas were entered to charges that include Trafficking Fentanyl, Unlawful Possession of a High Capacity Firearm and Ammunition. It’s expected additional charges will be filed by Plymouth Police in relation to drug trafficking, the chase, and assault on police officers.
