State Senator Patrick O’Connor of Weymouth faced a challenge this election from Cohasset resident Meg Wheeler. This race was for the Plymouth and Norfolk senate seat.
O’Connor was re-elected with over half of the precincts reporting – showing a 54% lead with 32,068 votes. Wheeler had 46 percent, with 27,308 votes.
O’Connor formerly served on the Weymouth Town Council and in 2016 he was elected State Senator in a special election, replacing current Weymouth Mayor Robert Hedlund.
Wheeler is an active member of both the Cohasset Advisory Committee and Democratic Town Committees.
O’Connor says they stuck to the issues in this race.
O’Connor’s largest lead was in Marshfield, with 9,732 votes to Wheeler’s 6,846 votes.
