In Plymouth, one of the casualties of the pandemic is the loss of transportation provided by the Plymouth-Brockton bus, service was suspended in March. This issue was raised at a recent Select Board meeting. Lea Filson, of See Plymouth told the Board about her contact with the folks at the bus company.
Bobbi Clark has more:
Lea Filson who directs See Plymouth, says the group is working to encourage tourism and there was an increase this summer:
“As soon as we started advertising over the six or eight week period, we saw the audiences increase all the way through Labor Day. And that was very helpful, but, again because of Covid, we probably saw a 60% drop in what we normally would see.”
So, in the interest of encouraging folks to visit the area, Filson contacted the Plymouth Brockton Bus Company:
“I had heard that they didn’t plan to start it back again.”
It was confirmed by a bus company spokesperson that the Plymouth line was permanently cancelled and that’s what Filson told Selectmen last week. However she continued to pursue the matter and got the good news that the Plymouth Brockton Bus Company, instead of limiting and canceling the bus route, decided they want to expand service after COVID. For instance, they plan to add the TF Green Airport to the Plymouth route.
Anyone interested in contacting the bus company to encourage continued service, can do so at info@p-b.com.
