Rockland: Budget Restorations, Fire Department Study on Special Town Meeting Warrant
— WATD 95.9 News & Talk Radio, South Shore Massachusetts
Budget restorations and a fire department response time study are on the warrant for Rockland’s Special Town Meeting, which meets tonight (11/16).
Town Administrator Doug Lapp says state aid returned in higher numbers than initially expected, so $890,000 will be added back to the FY21 budget. Line items are funded at amounts that were projected before COVID-19
Article three deals with a $25,000 response time study for the Fire Department.
With new housing and commercial projects near the Exit 14 area of town, Fire Chief Scott Duffey had the idea of sub-stations, instead of a new central fire station. The study would determine if those would be feasible options.
In October, the Selectmen voted to lower the quorum to 10 percent or 15 people.
The Rockland Special Town Meeting takes place at 7 p.m. Monday at the High School. A copy of the warrant can be found here.
