There are 16 articles on the warrant for the Scituate Special Town Meeting, which takes place tonight (11/16) at the High School gymnasium.

Articles on the warrant include the sale or lease of the Council on Aging building and the former Minot Fire Station.

A zoning bylaw amendment deals with signs. In 2019, the ACLU of Massachusetts wrote to the town that the initial bylaw was unconstitutional, because political signs were banned for most of the year. Signs could be put in place 30 days before an election, but had to be taken down 3 days after the election.

The Selectmen voted to suspend enforcement of the ordinance.

Article 15 deals with amending general bylaws to include gender-neutral terms such as “Select Board,” and Chairman to “Chair” or “Chairperson.”
