In Plymouth, the question is why are the exit numbers on Route 3 being changed.
Bobbi Clark asked State Representative Matt Muratore:
Representative Muratore says the change is being made to meet government standards:
“Well, it’s federal requirement. The federal government, years ago, asked everyone in the United States to actually start changing those to match the mile-markers that are on the road just for emergency reasons.”
And the state is behind in making the change:
“Massachusetts is one of the last states to do it and there’s a deadline coming up and if we don’t meet the deadline then we lose out on federal transportation dollars, millions and millions of dollars.”
To help avoid confusion, exit signs will include a reminder of the old exit number :
“They’re all going to say the former exit for at least two years.”
