Kingston Special Town Meeting Approves Water Treatment Upgrades, Ladder Truck Purchase

by | Dec 9, 2020 | News

Kingston residents met at the Kingston Collection for an 18-article Special Town Meeting warrant.

Voters approved an article for $1.47 million dollars to pay for the construction of the Grassy Hole Manganese Removal Plant. The article includes a filter at the Trackle Pond treatment facility.

The $1.3 million dollar lease/purchase of a new 100-foot ladder truck was approved for the Fire Department.

Fire Chief Mark Douglass says the town’s population has grown substantially, and the 75-foot ladder truck was taken out of service due to corrosion issues.

The new Amazon project will fund $250,000 for the truck. Trammell Crow, which is proposing a 280-unit apartment complex at the Kingston Collection, will contribute $150,000.

Articles 12 through 16 were not approved, as they were postponed. The Kingston Special Town Meeting concluded in one night.
