The Norwell Board of Selectmen will interview three finalists before deciding on a new police chief.
In November, Ted Ross retired after 14 years as chief. He was with the department for more than three decades.
Town Administrator Peter Morin says the finalists are Barre Police Chief John Carbone, Former Hopkinton Police Chief Edward Lee, and Leon Krolokowski, the New Canaan, Connecticut Police Chief.
“They were all rated well-qualified by the assessment committee and former chiefs, and performed very well in their interviews,” said Morin. “I feel very comfortable in forwarding these recommendations to the Board. I think each of them could serve the town well.”
He said 35 people submitted resumes, and the Search Committee narrowed the field down to 11 people.
The candidates answered written questions and were interviewed. An assessment process was conducted with two current police chiefs and one retired police chief.
That included scenarios and situations based on real-life incidents that the candidates had to respond to.
“This is the fifth police chief search in which I’ve participated, and this is one of the most competitive ones that I have seen,” said Morin. “The competitiveness, the high quality, and the caliber of the candidates that applied for this job I think speaks well for the town, its reputation, and particularly well for the reputation and professionalism of the Norwell Police Department.”
The Selectmen will interview all three candidates at a future meeting.
