Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz joins WATD’s Christine James on the South Shore’sMorning News to discuss a parole hearing upcoming for Kathleen Vitello.
Vitello, of Hanson, pleaded guilty to Motor Vehicle Manslaughter in connection to the death of 32-year-old Amanda Russell. She was sentenced to serve 6-8 years in prison.
Russell, a mother and well-known nurse at a Boston hospital, was struck by a vehicle Vitello was driving in Hanson just before Christmas in 2015. Russell was training for the 2016 Boston Marathon.
Cruz says during the investigation, it was found that Vitello tested positive for methadone, Adderall, Xanax, and valium at the time she was operating the vehicle.
He’s urging the parole board to hold Vitello accountable for her actions.
