Plymouth K9 Killed by Officer after Incident

by | Dec 29, 2020 | News

A Plymouth police officer shot and killed his K9 partner after an incident this morning.

Police Chief Michael Botieri says Officer Keith Larson and his K9, Nico, were responding to a call on Court Street. A suspect had fled the area.

As Larson was preparing for the call, he was bitten by Nico. Larson made several attempts to get free, but was forced to use his service weapon.

Nico died at the scene. Larson was transported to South Shore Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Botieri says Larson is a 17-year-veteran of the department with an exemplary record. He’s been a member of the K9 unit since March of 2017.

Larson was assigned to Nico since August of 2019. Larson was bitten on his hand while deploying Nico in April of this year.
