A Boston man is accused of attempting to rob two girls at the Quincy Center station Friday night.
MBTA Transit Police say that at approximately 7:11 p.m. they received a report of a robbery in the busway.
Upon arrival officers determined that a man, later identified as 31-year-old Vernard Shepard, was wearing a homemade ballistic vest when he approached the two victims and requested they give him money.
When they refused Shepard removed a large hunting knife held it in a threatening manner and demanded money.
The victims fled and were able to flag down help.
Shepard was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police Headquarters.
It was determined that the knife used in the incident was double edged, in violation of the law, and he was charged with Attempted Armed Robbery and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon.
