A Dorchester man is facing charges after police say he fled a traffic stop and crashed his vehicle in Scituate.
Cohasset Police Chief William Quigley says 31-year-old Dion Smith is facing charges that include Negligent Operation, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, and Speeding.
Just before 10 Saturday night, Cohasset police received a 9-1-1 call reporting an erratic driver on North Main Street, traveling towards the Scituate town line.
Shortly after, an officer spotted the vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled into Scituate.
The car crashed into a tree and came to a stop in a front yard on Country Way. Cohasset officers rendered aid until the Scituate Fire Department arrived.
Smith was transported to South Shore Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
