An East Bridgewater man has been sentenced to a year and a half in prison following his conviction on gun charges.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that 32-year-old James Kolozie pled guilty Friday in Brockton Superior Court to one count each of Unlawful Possession of an Assault Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Weapon, Possession of Ammunition Without a FID Card, Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm, and 19 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine.
The investigation began after the ATF received a tip that Kolozie purchased a stolen firearm component online.
ATF agents and East Bridgewater Police officers went to speak with Kolozie at his Central St. apartment where they noticed he was unlawfully in possession of ammunition.
After obtaining a search warrant they located a fully assembled but unsecured AR15-style rifle, multiple large capacity feeding devices, unassembled firearm components, and ammunition.
Kolozie was unlicensed to possess firearms or ammunition, and placed under arrest.
In addition to his prison sentence Kolozie must also serve three years of supervised probation.
